clown hosting in....the corner?!

In my 34 gallon solana with a single percular clown my friend no longer wanted. She's really well tempered and gets along wonderfully with her bicolor blenny tank-mate. The only issue I have with her is that she sleeps in the corner; as a result she pushes all the sand out of it.

Right now it's nothing but a minor annoyance. I eventually plan on getting a BTA for her when the tank matures (only 1.5-2 months old atm), but I fear she'll never leave the corner. Am I going to have to remove her and reintroduce her when I get the BTA down the road?

The clown may take to the BTA or it may not. It's a 50/50 chance pretty much. Even if she doesn't take to it the day you put the BTA in the tank she may take to it a week, a month, or however long from the day you put it in. =)

Very common with tank-raised fish. They are used to sleeping in the corner of glass boxes - so that is where they go to feel "safe".

I have a clown that was in my other tank hosting in a carpet. I had to give away the carpet because it got to big for the tank. After that my clown would host in the corner. I put a rose in my new tank with her about six months ago, and just this week she decided to move in. No reason really just decided one day to give it a try. It happens I wouldn't worry about it.

one thing you can try that has worked for me in the past is you can get a short piece if 1" pvc ( I use end caps), and put it in the corner. She will most likely host that with no problems. once she is comfortable with her new home, slowly move the pipe closer the the anemone you want her to host, when she is close enough she will make the transition naturally.

My oc pair does the same. The male sleeps in the lower left back corner, the female sleeps between the overflow box and back glass.

I just got a green BTA myself a few wks ago, my clowns have come close to it but I don't think they have noticed it is there.

guess I know where to put my BTA initially! Thanks for the replies everyone~
You would be better off putting your new where you want it. If you put it where the clowns are chances are they will just move, or kill it. Do the pipe trick I mentioned earlier. It has worked several times for me in a short time.

I forgot that they move! I'll certainly give that a shot thank you
