Clown hosting TT

Hi friends - looks like I got my computer fixed at the right time, because today my little male clown decided to start hosting my todd's torch....
The clowns have been fussing a Lot lately - over the past few weeks, they switched dominancy (the one I thought was going to be the male grew bigger and kicked the other one out of the RBTA).
My only idea right now is to move the coral.....
Any pointers here?

Bah - now they're both in it - the little jerks.

Justin - my tank is only 29g and this RBTA is working on taking over the whole tank as it is - tentacles span about 8". One would think that would be enough space for two teeny tiny clowns. Also I have a rock 'nem that keeps growing and growing - about 5" now. I don't think clowns host in rock 'nems at all, but I just don't have room for another.

Kat - looks like I'll try that first. Sigh - don't really feel like jostling things around today.

My mated pair has been hosting my TT for a long time, possibly a year, with no ill effects on either. Now, I will concede that I may just be lucky. Clowns have been know to be a bit rough on corals, euphylia included, when hosting them. If you start to see the coral reacting unfavorably (retracted), move it. Depending on TTs size, I'd say you'll have ample time to react. If its only a head or two, might not be worth the risk. Good luck!

I agree with Mark, if you see the TT not opening as much then move the coral. The TT is actually a very hearty torch coral so it should be able to handle a couple of small clowns. Just watch it, if it looks unhappy then try moving it...

Lizz,
I think you need to sell me your TT before the clowns take it out :) lol

I would not be concerned unless it is looking bad. I have clowns that host in mine with no issues.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it for now. My TT is pretty small - almost two heads, so if it starts to look fussy I'll move it right away.

Cully - your dog is just begging for forced-cuddle-time.
Mine couldn't even be bothered to make it all the way to her bed before she collapsed today:

PS - yes, Gary, I am slowly coming around to the notion that perhaps my aquarium is a tad small..... Is that case though, the house could be considered a touch small as well :)

BTW.... besides being hosted by my (currently) jerky clowns, the TT is doing quite well - almost divided into two heads now!

I have seen clownfish host in TT in various aquariums with no harm to either the torch or the clowns.

however, i wouldnt recommend having a clown host a single headed TT. All of the TT's that were being hosted were decently large.

Figures...she's actually being fairly gentle compared to how she is with 'nems. We'll see how it goes here as the night progresses and the torches, do the nighttime recede.
