Clown mating age??

I have a pair true percs that I've had for about a month now and the female is a good size about 2-3in but the male is pretty small maybe and inch. How old or big does the male have to be for them to mate? Thanks

Question for you, when you first got them, were they the same size?
Just got two 1" clowns and wondering what to expect as far as how long til I start to see a difference in sizes and when they might start the dominance issues.
