Clown problem!!

ok i have a perc clown, she is still small but not a baby. maybe two inches long and she has a smaller tank mate which im pretty sure there paired up. Now the problem is she is staying in the front corner and swimming like she does when the lights are out. I drop food in the tank and she doesnt even move. My paramaters are dead on.. PH 8.2 . nitrate maybe around 0.5 or less. all other inhabitants eat and are doing great. only other fish are my fire fish, one chromis(small) lwm bleeny, and her mate. any ideas? they normally go throug bouts of not eating or being stubborn?

ive tried all the foods i have except for the live brine shrimp. il get some this weekend. pellets she loved float by her now without a glance, mysis float by while all other fish inluding the male go crazy, she doesnt budge. ?? i dont think she old enough to be going through any stages but im really new to that area. do they act different through there rituals or stages of development? she used to be the one running around now she just stays in her sleeping corner.. she does have elevated breathing? any thoughts?

elevated breathing and not eating is usually a sign of illness. the fact that she is not leaving her corner is even worse. how long has she been this way? If caught early on things can be treated fairly quickly. If you have a fish only tank I would start hypo salinity treatment immediately. If it is a full blown reef I would remove her to a quarantine tank and begin a hypo treatment and possibly if things get worse Maracyn II. I swear by that stuff.

every clown i have ever had did this. mine took almost 3 weeks to get used to tank, as for the not eating, if they refuse brine shrimp then something is definately wrong. i would also leave the lights out to help out w/ the stress level

i have had this clown since last may. she was fine until i noticed she ignoring her food.. she still looks the same just not eating and staying in her area (corner front or back). should i do the hypo treatment? what is the medication good for? will it hurt her more than help? thx for the info to.. i really dont want to lose her. she has been this way for about 4 to 5 days now..

if she has been that way for 4-5 days then I would remove the fish to a hospital tank and begin hypo, if within 2 days she still isnt eating or showing signs of breathing easier then I would begin the maracyn treatment. maracyn is a cocktail kind of like gatorade. it has anti-biotics, amino acids, and electrolytes that are designed to be absorbed through the gills to help make fish that havnt eaten in a while stronger. I have seen this stuff bring fash back from nearly dead. just make sure to follow the directions on the box if things go that far.

ok THX for the help. ya she still not eating just breathing heavy staying in the corners. I have made new saltwater up so i can drain my main tank to fill the quarantine tank.. gonna do a water change/ quarantine all in one. trying to find out what else i need for the quarantine tank.. should i put my extra live rock in it or just an airstone?

keep the hospital tank bare. for cover use an old mug or flower pot with just an airstone or perhaps a powerfilter with the cartridge removed for circulation.

I have the hospitol tank setup. clown is in it being treated with antibiotics the fish guy gave me.. now should i start lowering salinity level now or wait? i have a floating hydrometer so could someone explain the process in detail of how i should lower it and over the length of time? when to raise it backup and process.. I really would hate to kill her by a mistake..

lower it gradually over the course of two days and you want to leave it low for at least two weeks. do a search on hypo salinity. It has been covered in depth.

ok i think im pretty sure my clown swam up and hit my eggcrate cover and hurt herself. Now i set up the QT tank.. and have gotten her nursed back to health. she is eating and swimming 100% better. The thing ive noticed now is the right side of her mouth will not open much and it looks as if her mouth is cocked to the left just a little. ? ive read where people took there fish out to reset there mouth but wanted to know what you clown experts have to say. she is eating brine and mysis. She has trouble eating pellets because she cant open her mouth all the way. Will this heal on its own?? advice pleas.. :D

try some different food, live brine is like crack to a clownfish, they cant turn it down.
