Clown Tang jumping?

Hi i noticed within the past few days. My Tang seemed to pick up a new habit. He is always energy boy in the tank to begin with, but now he literally swims around then uses the same pattern and purposly spashes above the surface of the water. Normal playing habit? Or something else?

now i'm not hte tang police or anything... but if you have it housed in your 54 gal... space restrictions would probably cause this... these fish are swimmers...

mine in my 6' makes short work of the distance and it is constantly swimming... no splashing though

it maybe frustration from lack of swimming space...

Do you think that may be the case? I so dont ant to get rid of him. He is about 4'' long health as an Ox too. :(

at 4" unfortunately... your tank is too small... long term it wont be good for the fish... it will stunt its growth and it will just become more and more aggressive as well and shortening its lifespan with stress etc...

take this as a perfect opportunity to upgrade :D

What Asuran said. That tang is notorious for being a high enery, fast growing, very aggressive fish. They really do need something in the 250 to 300 gallon range.
