Clown Tang - Should I?

I posted this in another thread, but wanted to start a new one to add more info.

I have a 6' 220 stocked with:

Purple Tang
Yellow Tang
Hippo/Regal Tang
Pair of Perculas
Yellow Tail Damsel
Watchman Goby that hides

Everyone gets along perfectly. Nobody takes any crap off anybody else, but nobody is a bully either.

Someone locally has a Clown Tang that needs a bigger home. Right now, he's eating great and is not aggressive at all. He is in a 150g with the same three Tangs that I have, and like I said - no aggression.

He is about 5" so he's not exactly a baby, but not truly an adult either.

Should I give it a shot?

Yeh, I wasn't very convincing was I.
Even if the Clown isn't aggressive at the moment the chances are it will be. If it isn't then the fish isn't displaying normal behaviour. I would say the 99% of people who get one regret it mainly due to it's aggressiveness, rapid growth or it's love of contracting diseases.
Also, you only have a 220g which still isn't big enough for a CT.
At the moment it's 5 inches. I would put money on it turning into an unwanted beast very soon. It's what they do.
As far as I'm concerned the ONLY thing they have going for them is their looks. Everything else is a negative.

I forgot to mention something. This fish needs a new home ASAP, and the owner would rather it go to my 220 even if temporarily, than to someone with a bigger tank who she doesn't know for sure would be a good owner. I hope that came out right. Make sense?

So I could take him and search and have a good, big home lined up when he gets too big and/or aggressive.

Thank you for the response. I just have to accept that this will be a temporary home for him. That's okay...I've been a foster mom for dog rescues, so why not fish? :p

"Temporarily" will seem like a bad idea to you when you're tearing all the rock out of your tank to catch that fish, especially if you wait until after it's killed something you like.

Beautiful fish! I probably wouldn't put one with other tangs though. If I were you, I'd look for homes for my other tangs just so I could keep the clown. That's not the most practical thing to do though.
