clown tang

keep us updated. As everyone mentioned hard fish. This is one of those fish that does not do well in captivity. I would say 9 of 10 tries this fish don't make it and that is being conservative.

I agree these fish are difficult to keep and require unique setups. I'm getting ready to setup a 400 g tank (120" L x 32" W x 24" T) and I am not going to add anymore Tangs or other large fish than what I currently have in my 200 gallon. I have a Blue and Sailfin Tang. The other fish I have all stay under 4" in length. Total fish in my 200g tank is 13.

I'm going to use (2) Tunze 6200 and (4) Tunze 6100 in the 400 plus a Dart return pump on (3) 1" diameter Sea Swirls. I know it's not the amount of flow that these fish see in the ocean but hopefully keeping a small number of fish in a large tank will help keep the Clown Tang "happy".

I do believe these fish require lots of space with lots of flow, I will try to make that clear when replying in the Clown Tang threads.

i would like to get one about 4 to 5 in. let him grow out in the 220 a little bit and move him with the others into the 480 i have in the works.

The nastiest fish I've ever had. Picked on every single fish I had. Every single fairy wrasse had parts of their tails missing. Clowns, large angels, tangs, wrasses, etc. Even chased a huge emperor angel that was pretty tough. Back to the LFS. Too bad as it was a very nice, fat and healthy fish.
