Clown throwing food at Mandarin

Dissy

Umm... Maroon clown has picked up the habit of throwing food at my Mandarin. She'll grab it out of the water column, and then just spit it at the Mandarin, grab another piece, and do the same thing (after she eats all the "good" food)

Since I don't trust her worth squat, despite the fact that she seems very protective of said Mandarin, should I be worried? Mandarin eats frozen so is doing just fine by herself, and ignores the clown...

Lol that actually sounds like a great sight to see! I wouldn't be worried, I'd be more interested in what has caused this behavior!

I'm not sure.. When I first got the Mandarin, she was scared and hid under a rock.. The clown went under, and nudged her side with her nose until the Mandarin came out. After that, every time I put my hands in the tank, the clown would come attack me.

For food (because I'm trying to see what I can all get the Mandarin to eat), I overfeed by making a fish "soup" consisting of pellet, caviar, spirulina brine, regular brine, arctipods, and cromaplex. The clown eats all the caviar, and he huge pieces of brine.. After that, she just grabs stuff out of the water column, spits it at the Mandarin, and takes off. The Mandarin won't eat from the water column, and just waits for stuff to settle on the sand, and then eats everything except the pellets.

Strangest damn setup I ever saw. To date, I'm the only thing the clown has ever attacked.

But seriously this sounds like some interesting behaviour and I am very excited to see it. Don't upset me!

I can't get a pic of the actual feeding with a cell phone. But, as you can see, I can't even look at her without the clown sticking her fat head in the mix, and (typically) charging the glass.. Strangest damned combination I've ever seen...
