\Clownfish/ 29 Gallon BioCube Tank

You have your cube set up the same as I do clown, you apparently don't have any issue with nitrates. I admit I should probably be better at water changes, but my closets lfs is a 2 hour drive(petco, really only pet store around that has marine stuff), and I have yet to purchase an RO/DI unit(next purchase), so my water changes have been from petco salt water.

Wonder if i started doing weekly 5 gallon changes if it would help a ton?

Really need to purchase that RO/DI unit, buying water is getting expensive.

Yep, mine is set up the same way yours is homer, I do water changes every weekend. I also add Phosguard and de Nitrate but not all the time. I'm interested in what others keep back there for filtration.

So as long as you don't mind, figured I would throw up a pic or 2. :celeb2:

Got this guy today. Not sure what zoa it is(had no name, just zoa frag), but its my first coral!!!

Whole tank, you can see the tiny frag dead center. In a couple days I will start to move it to the shelf of rock just under the left pump

Im wondering equipment wise?

Looking into a media basket to replace the sponges(think I might try to DIY one out of acrylic and egg crate before I buy one. Looks fairly simple).

Purigen, matrix carbon and my filter floss would fit perfectly in a media basket and it would rid me of the nitrate factory

I run a reactor which has a GFO/carbon mix in it right now but will be just GFO here shortly. I have my skimmer of course as well.

In the rear I have a media basket that currently is housing purigen, chemipure, phosguard, and filter floss as I finish my algae issue. Once that is done I will throw a bag of carbon in there with floss only. I will also put my refug light back on and throw some chateo back in there.

Other equipment in the rear right now is my ATO line and sensor, pump for the reactor, an airline tube tot he return pump where I pour in whatever I am dosing at the time, heater, and sensors

Well I have to say that I pulled out the foam, replaced it with a media basket that now has filter floss with a polishing pad on top, purigen in the middle chamber, and matrix carbon in the bottom chamber. My nitrates dropped 20ppm overnight!!!!

Thanks a bunch soulpatch!!

I'm thinking that by tomorrow, or in a couple days my nitrates should be at 0. Apparently the foam pads are a nitrate factory, I did read something about that somewhere and no one in the comments seemed to think it would be. Live and learn I guess. :D

Looking good Homer!

Update: I did a water change today as well removed the sponges on the back. I also cleaned the glass and trimmed a bit of the xenia which will hopefully sell soon. Everything is growing and looking happy which has is amazing. I will be gone for a week starting tomorrow so I'm sure everything will be find till I get back and perform my next water change.

Anyone recommend any good LFS in Champaign or Urbana, IL? I've seen a few but would like to know what you guys recommend. :D I would like to get a nice coral piece before I head back home to IA on Thursday.

Well I'm back from my work trip and tank is doing very well still :) I checked out a few fish stores in champagne and Urbana, IL but found nothing that caught my eye.
