Clownfish afraid of Cyclopeeze

So I got a clown goby that is tiny, was recommended to get a frozen cyclopeeze stick to dip in the tank and swirl to get some in the water for the tiny goby.

Every time I do this my ocellaris pair run for the hills and duck and cover in the rock work and hide for the next 15 minutes until the cyclopeeze has worked its way out of the tank.

Kind of annoyed because I feel like I am just polluting the water since I dont even see the clown goby eat and the clownfish just hide from the food.


Anyone else have clowns that are afraid of food? Mine go nuts when I bring the jar of new life spectrum out, but the frozen stick scares the **** out of them.

Maybe cut a piece of the stick off and put that in the water. Or swirl the stick in a cup of tank water and then pour in a little at a time.
I don't like the idea of swirling the frozen stick as a feeding method. You are partially thawing the food every time you feed and then refreezing it. That's not so good for the food quality of the cyclop-eeze. I always cut/broke little pieces off the frozen stick when I wanted to feed.

very valid point about thawing/freezing and degrading quality. At the same time they are scared of the stuff in the water to the point that they hide until it has all been filtered out.

They had just gone into hiding when I made the first post, now its all gone and they are back out acting like they own the place lol.

My clown fish eat it. I just cut a piece off and soak it in some seldom or vitamins and feed it.

That is why I thought it was funny, everything I read was about how much fish like it.. mine duck and cover. They are tank bred though, they aren't huge fans of mysis either. All about the pellets.

Mine are tank bred too, and yeah, I'm surprised how quick they take the pellets over mysis, which is kind of a bummer for me cause I have to feed my anthias lots of mysis.
I wish they all ate pellets, I'd be on autofeeder.
