Clownfish Air Bladder Success

Hey fellow clownfish people. I just wanted to share something that has happened with one of my clowns.

When I first purchased this pair from a fellow reefer, I did not see that the female had a faulty swim bladder. She had a hard time staying neutral bouyant. I was worried but after 6 months or more this clown has come around and is now showing positive swimming skills. She even spawned when she swam like a bag of rocks.

I am not sure if this poor air bladder was due to poor nutrtion, but that is what I suspect. So if you are looking at a clown that has a crappy swim bladder clowns may recover from a poor airbladder.

You can always try the goldfish trick of feeding him a couple mashed up peas.

I've done it with great success with goldfish in the past.

not sure. I think that the theory is that there is some intestinal irregularity (gas maybe?) that the air bladder is trying to compensate for and which the pea helps move on through. This may well be goldfish specific but since I doubt the pea would do any harm I'd be tempted to try it. My nephew's goldfish had bladder problems and was even swimming upside down for a few days. The pea set him straight in short order.
