Clownfish Breeding

Hi all,

My clowns have been laying eggs on my overflow for the last 2 months or so on a set cycle. Every time I tell myself I will try to harvest the larva, but they just laid eggs yesterday and this time I am determined.

I am setting up my 10g to hold the larva in until they are big enough. From what I understand all I need is a heater and air stone?

As far as food goes, my LFS sells rotifers and baby brine, which I will feed them based on what I read on an article online.

What I dont understand well is how am I to get them out of my tank and into the 10g tank? They seem to be super small that I feel anything would obliterate them.

Thank you and I will keep you guys posted.

I don't know what your LFS sells rotifers for but be prepared to buy a lot, and I hope these aren't the frozen type, they need to be alive. I wouldn't worry about BBS, I skip that and go from rotifers to dry foods.

Would I be better off culturing them myself?

You're much better off culturing them yourself. It's a lot cheaper than constantly buying live rotifers and the process isn't hard.

Reed Mariculture has everything you need to get started. Take a look at their APBreed product line. You can buy rotifers and food -- since you're just starting out I recommend RGComplete. They sell a rotifer growing system called the Compact Culture System, but I get by with a few 5 gallon buckets and bubblers.
