clownfish jumping

Hi all:

I recently added 2 true perculas into my tank. They are NOT a mated pair, however, besides the dominance ritual they seem to be okay. In the last 2 days, I am finding that one of the fish is jumping into the sump/fuge in the back. I'm wondering if any of you know why that is?

Thanks

At night or during the day?
- If during the day it could be that he's being chased either by the prospective mate or by another fish and that is the best refuge he can find.
- If it's happening at night he may be sleeping up there and gets a little too close.

Yea, it's always during the night. I don't mind him hanging out back there, I'm just worried that if he jumps, one day he's going to miss and land outside the tank.

There are a few threads about this. It was happening to me too. Always at night. Seems like she was getting spooked by people walking by or light going on and when she jumped she ended up in the back. As of recently, my clowns found the anemone and no longer sleep at the top back of the tank. Other people have also bought some mesh and placed it on the back of the tank so that they can't jump back there anymore.

I would advise that you cover this and all tanks....

There's nothing like coming home from a business trip and finding a latz dried up on the floor.
