Currently I have a larger female ocellaris and a much smaller presumably male (based on size and lack of aggression between the two) mis-bar ocellaris sharing a tank.
Will these two ever become a mated pair or will the differences in appearance prevent this?
Yes they will pair no problem. As a rule you can check at night and if they are sharing sleeping quarters they are paired. Also you should see some interaction like the smaller one approaching the larger and "quivering".
