Clownfish not eating after 8 days

Hello all! So I went to petco last sunday (8/03/14) and they had an absolutely beautiful big snow onyx clownfish. He was on sale for only $30. So my boyfriend and I snatched him up quickly. He's currently in our 75 gallon tank with a platinum clownfish (which we bought a few days ago) and our clean up crew. It's been 8 days since we had him and he will not eat. The platinum ate his first day home. We tried brine, mysis, flakes, SA pellets, even shrimp pellets all with garlic. He just wont eat! He seemed slightly interested in the pellets but hasn't eaten anything.

I tested the tank today and the levels are as followed:
ammonia:0
Nitrate:0
Nitrite: 0
PH:8.2
Salinity: .023
Tempature 78 F

We did notice his fins are slightly ripped when we bought him. It looks like they were old injuries though. Nothing white or anything around them. I have a crappy picture. Does he look alright? He doesn't seem to be losing weight.

Thanks!

Black worms? Never heard of them before. Would I have to order them online?

The clownfish is captive bred and huge, I don't understand why he would need something live to eat. I've never had a problem with any of my clowns except this one :(

Could still be getting used to the new tank. You should lookup clownfish fin rot and see if it looks the same. How is the breeding, is it rapid or labored? There might be a parasite such as fluke. But these clowns are tank raised, so its unlikely he would have fluke unless he came from an infected system.

I don't think it's fin rot, I don't see any white around his fins but i've never seen fin rot in person. His breathing is fine. He acts normal and is hanging out with the other clownfish.

I did read about flukes, the only symptoms he has is not eating and the fins.

Should I do a freshwater dip? or just wait a bit longer? I'm really attached to this guy, I don't wanna see him die :(

I don't do freshwater dips since in my opinion it only temporarily helps and doesn't effectively treat. Also I don't like to the stress fish out unnecessarily.
But in this case you might want to consider doing it. Maybe look carefully to see if anything falls off.

Hmm i'm still wondering what it could be. I called my local fish store and they said it's probably a bacterial infection. I'm kinda at a loss on what to do.

I'm thinking it has to be something with the fish, not the food but I don't really know.

Anyone have any insight on what I should do. The plan was to fresh water dip him today. Should I continue with that?

Honestly, a few drops of garlic extract can go a long way towards helping sick fish. It is a natural immune booster and also allegedly is an appetite stimulant in fish. So aside from just feeding some food here and there with garlic I would put a few drops in tank - of course depending on how big of a tank it is.

Update: I tried this stuff called "entice" (I have been using garlic extreme before) and he seems to have eaten a pellet and possibly some brine shrimp (he moves so fast!) So that's a good sign! I'll try again tonight to feed him and go from there. I'm hoping he starts eating regularly!

Wow. I had this happen to me with my skunks and it took them 7 days to eat. They can go a while without eating but not to long. Good Luck!

I had a white tail tang that ate none (or very little when I wasn't around) for the entire 12-day tank transfer period, and very little the first couple days in my DT. Then he seemed to catch on with the others and now he eats like a horse. IMO, sometimes it just takes longer to adapt. If he doesn't appear to be sick or losing weight, I wouldn't stress too much.

Well I went to one of my LFS today and bought this product called entice by seachem. The owner said it has worked every time for him. So I gave it a go. I'm happy to say after a 10 day hunger strike my clownfish ate! I'm hoping that he continues to eat!

Thanks everyone for your help! I'm thrilled he's eating! :)
