Clownfish raising young?

Out of pure curiosity has anyone ever left the parents to take care of their own young? Like in a species tank where one could feed the babies in all that good stuff. I read that clownfish are actually good parents and will guard their babies until they reach maturity. I understand that the process of raising young clowns is anything but easy however, I am curious if anyone has tried it. Also, does anyone know any articles or videos about wild clownfish(documentary maybe?).

Sorry, clownfish do not take care of their young. They are great at caring for the eggs, and very diligent but that all stop once they hatch. I have often seen them eating the babies after they hatched out, as I am busy trying to siphon the babies into a seperate larval rearing tank.

not sure where you read that clowns are great parents and will raise the babies till maturity but that is far from the truth. as stated they make great parents with regards to raising the eggs till they hatch but after they hatch the parents look at them as food. the batches of clowns I let go inbetween raising the fry the parents will start picking them off when they see them.

I would suggest getting the book clownfishes by joyce wilkerson, she talks about clowns in the wild, anemones, and how to raise clowns in that book, basically everything you may want to know about them

Wow must have read a bad source thanks for the information and I will defiantly check out that book.
