Clownfish "whiskers"

My breeding Maroon Clown, Premnas biaculeatus has a white cotton like growth with pronounced "whiskers" straight short rod like growths around the mouth area. It appears pre spawning and I suspect it has something to do with her cleaning the rock prior to laying. It goes away several days after laying but returns next time round. I am lucky to have 50/60 fry from their last brood , now 18 days old, so my water perameters cannot be too far out.
Any suggestions what this might be, if it is worth worrying about and hopefully a cure.
Would appreciate some feed back.

You may be right about the fungus from abrasions, but the whiskers might also result from her biting a bristleworm or two---my firefish has a chinful at the moment, uncomfortable for a day, but just one of those little territorial disputes...not saying this is definite, but a 2-part event might be in question here.

Most likely she bite into a brisstle worm and got a mouthfull of brisstles. This should sdisolve in a few days. No premanent harm done.

This sounds right.

I have a female that absolutely loves to eat them, and when she goes on a tear with them, she looks like she needs a shave afterwards.

It is hard to say without a pic, but I agree that this is the most likely explanation. I notice that when some clowns spawn, they can abrade scales around the mouth area, causing a white, raised appearance. IME, neither are anything to be concerned about.
