Has anyone seen the price of this book lately? I was going to go get one, because i have seen it recommended numerous times... but not now.

There is a new one on amazon going for over 900.00!!

I recently was looking for the book as well and saw that on Amazon as well...so I did some searching and I received my book last Tuesday from Foster and Smith Aquatics...it is the new copyright as well brand new never opened give their website a look and see if they still have them a WHOLE lot less than the price you noted...hope this helps you out I haven't even started to read mine yet I just keep looking at it and waiting for a quiet moment to start reading:wavehand:
 
Wow, that's crazy! I just searched amazon and saw the cheapest used version was like $125!!! I've got a copy sitting on my bookshelf that I'll let go for $100. ;)

Actually, wouldn't sell my copy (unless I could get $900) because it's a GREAT book.

I'm sure you can find it somewhere online for under $20, just keep searching.

There is a whole business of people who buy out of print books and resell them for several times what they paid. I was recently looking at an out of print scientific book that was listed on Amazon for $150 (via a 3rd party). Almost instantly someone bought it, and then re-listed the same book for $577(!) Funny thing is, not even the author has a copy :) So I guess if you are in the market for EXACTLY that book, they have you over a barrel.

BTW... what is so special about the Wilkerson book? I've got one and just took another look at it. Why the demand?

EDIT - I just went to check on the book I referenced above, and the seller now wants $966.98 for it :) LOL!
 
IIRC, Joyce Wilkerson passed away a few years back, so I guess the book may be a collector's item now that it's no longer in publication.
 
I wonder how much the copy I have that she signed for me in '98 would be worth. :lol:

I didn't know she had passed away. :( That's too bad, she was a knowledgeable and nice person.

If you Google the Wilkerson book, there are still a ton of places selling new copies online. Just avoid Amazon :)

Wilkerson's book is good but if you want a much more detailed book on breeding clownfish you should read Frank Hoff's book. That is a clownfish breeder's bible.
 
I feel a bit foolish for not buying a copy a few months back for $28.


As for the comment above, most reefers don't overtly try to turn profit from other reefers (unless you're a business or some shady craigslist seller). It would be nice if you offered the book to the OP for your cost + shipping cost + maybe a couple bones, but hey, I understand that not everybody is generous. Just a suggestion.
 
these books are not worth the 900 or 450 as listed on amazon (not because it is a bad book) ill trade for a nice frag err two im not looking for 900 if i was it would be on e bay. with everthing please dont assume the worst
