Clowns acting weird...

Ok, so the last 2 days my clowns have been acting weird. I boug 2 clowns about 10 months ago, and they have been in the tank since I started. One for sure is the female, bigger then the other and more dominate. They sleep together at night, and hang out all the time. The do the little "Flutter" dance once and a while, just the usual stuff. Well, about 2 days ago I noticed them swing around the bottom of the tank a lot, which is very unusual because they are normally at the top or middle. Then yesterday my wife said the male clown (Smaller) has been in the bottom of the tank in this little cave. (She told me that after I just noticed today). The femail goes down there every now and then, but he is there rubbing up against the roof of the rock and moves around now and then. Not sure if this is a sign of possible breeding, or if he is looking for a place to die, or just a got the wife mad and is in the dog house lol. :bounce1:

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

it kinda sounds like there prepping a nest area. Especially the rubbing on the rocks behavior. but my male has a man cave he likes to hang in to get away from the lady from time to time. :)

Keep an eye out for ich. The rubbing on the rock could be a sign of disease. Probably not but watch it anyway.

Well, I am guessing he went with the first suggestion, he was looking for a man cave lol. No eggs, guess him and the Mrs. were having a bad day, he just needed to escape.. lol. Who knew fish had the same problem..

Hey Garrett, good and you? Long time no see. Upgrade your tank yet? I want to go bigger, just no room right now. Thought my clowns were going to nest, but I think it was the male needing a man cave lol. Good to hear from you, PM me some time and we can get together.

They may have had a set of eggs and then eaten them. Sometimes that happens with the first one or two sets of them.

I thought you and Art were going to come to a meeting several meetings ago. We missed you.:spin1:

Hope your tanks are doing good. Does Art still have the big "flat" tank? I really liked how is was set up.

Dan - Yea man I'm doing great and the tank is thriving. I have a list of upgrades in my shopping cart at marinedepot.com totaling 1300. So, they will sit there until I get some extra cash. I might try and sell some of my junk from other hobbies so I can get some new stuff. I have big plans with the system that includes plumbing in an aquarium closet and completely redoing my electrical set up (because right now it is a fire hazard that consists of mechanical timers, extension cords, and power strips). My big plan is to move everything out from under the tank and into a closet behind the tank. Problem is that Victoria and I are thinking about selling the house and downsizing in the near future. So, I don't want to be punching holes in the walls just yet. I would really love to have you over some time to nerd out on reef stuff. I'm off on the weekends pm me your contact info. We should get together.

Eddie - Yea sorry about the no show... I can't remember exactly what happened but I guess life just got in the way. My system is doing great but I'm kind of at a stale mate in my advancement in the hobby. I do need to connect with you other reefers so I can get advice and such. I love the hobby and would love to be around other people that share the passion. I love my wife to death but she enjoys my tank about as much as she would enjoy counting grains of sand.

Dad is so busy with his businesses that he has not been able to devote time to his tank. It is still up and running and he still has some big beautiful corals but it is definitely in need of some tlc. He has talked about selling it and downsizing but I don't think he could ever part with that thing. He custom built the whole dang thing.

I talked him into replacing his bulbs about 6 months ago so hopefully his corals have better color now. You should go over there and water change that thing for him!
