Clowns eating eggs?

My false percs finally spawned yesterday, then immediately ate the eggs! I'm not planning to raise them at this time, but would like to try in the future. Is this common behavior? Do I need to remove the eggs as soon as their layed?

This sometimes happens with the first couple of clutches. Once they figure out what they are really supposed to do after that first time or two, they will stop that behavior and tend the nest like they are supposed to.
