Now, i already know i will have Magnifica's in the tank.
Possibly 1 Gigantea, undecided at this point on that.
So considering how many types of clowns host Mag's in the wild, i want to do a colony of a species for them, as they are found in the wild. From the video's i have seen, most clowns don't go more than 3 ft away from they're anemone at a time, so i know that this cube is a pretty good setup to try and recreate they're natural environment. What do you think i should do?

I chose Chysopterus because it's different. Also because it will be the largest clown at 5inches you can actually see it in a 240. :D
I would like to get a pair myself.

Cheers

I threw in a vote for pink skunks. I've always thought they were cool, certainly seen less often than percula/ocellaris, but still common enough that you should be able to get enough to hopefully establish a colony (I think Chrys or Nigripes would be tough)

Availabilty isnt a factor for these clowns, as i can get all of them on a regular basis. Thats why i like nigripes, they are almost never seen, are beautiful, and are kind of like pink skunks.

I like the nigripes choice. You don't see them often and will definately add uniqueness to any tank with anemones.

Haha...if you were to go with Nigripes, would you only get a pair or a family?

The nigripes add a touch of uniqueness to your tank, you don't really see them too often, but the blue stripes are also fairly unique, and like previously said, they are big enough to see in a 240. I my opinion, I would prolly go with, ahh heck I can't even decide between the two!, but go with what you think you can imagine swimming in your 240, thats what i had a debate with myself a year ago, I asked, do I want to see plants, or live rock and white sand when I wake up and look at my tank. Its all you, have fun!

I think your choice depends on your audience.
Are you building this display for you or for people visiting your house?
IME, non-clownfish people will not see the subtle beauty of the nigripes, nor will they appreciate the difficultly of chrysopterus.
I think people will like a family of ocellaris the best. They have the best chance of not beating the stink out of each other in a family group and to tell you the truth, I would be hard pressed to find a more beautiful pair of clowns of any species as my first pair of ocellaris. I think sometimes as "clownfish people" we pass over the beauty of the ocellaris that normal people see.

If you are building this for you, go with the nigripes.

Who said ocellaris's aren't beautiful, they are, and still will be my personal fav, my first to own and first to breed, granted very common, which makes them usually cast to the side when going for a unique look to a tank, but beautiful and peaceful nonetheless.

A very nice pair of A. percula is the best IMO, second only to a nice pair of Whiter Cap. I know I am boring but that is what I like.

I second the ocellaris! Mine have never caused any problems, and the kids love 'em.

Good point Phender. I never even thought of it that way. I guess your common guests will not understand the rareness and beauty of having a family of nigripes opposed to a family of A. Occelaris.

Could you get some different morphs of the same speices? That would be pretty cool... and you could name them all if they have different markings! Not "Nemo" though... :D

Really, REALLY cool idea for a tank... I can't wait to see it whichever clown you chose.
