A couple of days ago my clowns laid some eggs. At first I wasnt going to try to save them. Now I feel that I should.

I need rotifers for the newly hatched eggs, right? Where can I get that, quickly?

I know I can get the culture from Florida Aqua Farms but I dont have that kind of time.

Any input would be great...thanks

Don't try and save the first batch, or even the second. Get everything set up (greenwater cultures, rotifer cultures, grow out tank) and note your clowns laying and hatching schedule. After two or three times or so, the pair will become pretty reliable.

It makes it a lot easier to know when to try and capture the new fry as well as getting the bugs out of your own ability to culture greenwater and rotifers.

Finally, once they get laying regularly, you can experiment with putting a ceramic tile in the tank in their laying area when the pair are between clutches. If you can get them laying on a tile, it's a lot easier to move the tile into the hatching tank the day of hatching (which you will know by then) and have all the fry hatch in the hatching/fry tank, rather than trying to catch the fry in the main tank after they have hatched.

Good luck, and keep us posted on how you do.

I would let your first couple of batches go. Do as much research as you can between that lapse of time and get a rotifer culture going. You won't have time to save your first batch of eggs anyways.
