Clowns-sebae and clarkii able to be bred?

Pairing up isn't the same as breeding. Anything is possible, but the two species have completely different personalities. I can't recall of two Sebae breeding in captivity let alone sebae interbreeding with clarkii. In general, sebae are very nervous and reclusive. Clarkii are aggressive and boisterous.

I have nevery heard of it either. It would be interesting to see what the offspring would look like if they could produce viable gamettes.

Yeah Gary, I know there is a difference. Thats why I asked if they could pair up when the answer to them breeding was no. They seem to be getting along fairly well so I'm thinking they could pair up although they will probably not breed. I'll keep it updated.

When I purchased my baby sebea they only had the one,so I was told they would let me know when more came in. What they got in was clarkis, and they told me that they could be kept together without any problems. I did not risk it, but I am still waiting and it has been nearly a month, so now I am concerend that I will not be able to put another one in the tank.

Are you sure you don't have a Saddleback Clownfish (A. polymnus)?
Sebae Clowns are very rarely seen in the hobby.
Saddleback clowns have the temperment to co-exist with Clark's Anemonefish.
A. sebae does not. Don't rely on what you're LFS is telling you what the fish is- clowns are often incorrectly identified.

Yup can be paired and bred...as JHardman said there was a company that was selling them a few years I will see if I can find a pic.

Im pretty sure its a sebae clown, it doesnt have the same body shape of a polymnus. I'll try to get a pic later.

I thought they could!

If I remember right, someone what selling A. clarkii/A. sebae crosses about 1 or 2 ago.

Proaquatic was selling a polymnus / sebae cross. I don't know if that is the one you were thinking about or not. I don't remember a clarki / sebae cross.

Make up your minds! J/K...I guess we'll see what happens. They get along great. The clarkii is about 2.5 inches and the sebae is about 1 inch. They sleep in different anemones but during the day, they sometimes share.

Here's some pics of the happy couple....

the little one is still a juvi (second stripe extending into the rear dorsal, this will fade probably quite quickly as it matures( this is why they are mistaken for sebae clowns)) but thay are nice fish and appear healthy good luck. I really like clarks cool fish.
