I'm in the process of setting my 120 back up so I hope you don't mind if I just set in on the meeting and see what goes on and meet some of you. I wish I was in town for the show but with my job it's not going to happen. But, if I was in town I would be going but my wife would take away my credit cards and check book. :(

That's a much better deal than I got last time. Last time I was told since I have paid dues through 2011 I had to pay an early dues penalty sort of like the credit cards do to us.

You got it, anyone paid up through 2011 gets 95% off the non-members price! :p

I found the meeting to be special. I printed off this thread and left the house at 8 a.m. to attend the meeting. At Dwight I pulled over to put the address in my Garmin GPS....found out something interesting about the GPS....If you put Addison, IL and a room number into the thing it says no matches found...same thing if you put in Devry U. So I stopped at a gas station checked a map and made it to Addison by 10:50...I then began asking locals how to get to DeVry U....and they didn't have any better Idea what street it was on than I did.....So after driving around asking and getting bad directions time move forward and at 11:40 i figured that I had probably missed the meeting anyhow and began the 3 hour trip home. Did stop at a nice LFS because they were willing to disclose their street address. I hope that the seven hours of my life spent today so that the October event would be a sucess was more satisfying to the club than it was for me because I am done...My dues are paid more than a year in advance....please cancel my membership in CMAS and refund the dues paid but unearned....because I am done....done....done...if I sound ****ed then I have done a geat job of hiding how I really really feel.

This is why I don't have a GPS. I depend on the old fashioned system of maps. Usually there is one posted in this thread.

You are wiser than I was but even a map requires a street or address to locate something smaller than a city.

i went to the meeting at 11am and didnt get back till 6pm i stopped at some fish stores and time just flew by. good meeting, nice to meet new people.

Did you ask for an address? I'm a local truck driver & can get around. I've even been to your neck of the woods. I would've helped as I'm sure everybody else would have as well. It sucks because you if you went just a little further on 355 you could've seen the building from the highway. I work down the street from there & know if you were as close to North Ave. they should've directed you there.

RIGHT ON. I had a great time & got to add my own lil 2 cents. Learned a little, inputted a little & even got to win something for my fuge. Wish these meetings continued in the summer as the winter time is my hardest working time of the year & when the bulk of my vacation time is taken.

If you are asking if I asked the locals for an address yes, I did. If you are asking if I posted for an address before I left....no when I printed off the thread I thought I had the address but once I was in the car on the road without a phone number for anyone in the club and without a street or address I really didn't have anyone but the locals to ask and they were clueless. It was my error for not seeing if full information was given but since we had so much info on the October event I thought when I printed off the entire thread that there would be adequate information to find the meeting....my bad for assuming or trusting....

I guess the real reason for my bowing out is I belong to BNARC, GIRS, Rockford Reefers, CIMA, and I just can't justify the time. I know that I have the full address to the BNARC meeting today and I have never had any problem finding their meetings which are closer and have some nice workshops......CMAS doesn't need me.....I think the membership are great people and I will see many of you as I work the other four clubs events but Boyd asked for some time for the October event and I gave him 7 hours....that is about half the time I worked at the Midwest Fragfest, the BNARC fragfest, etc..the time spent working their booths and helping people set up was much more satisfying than wandering Addison ..so it is time for me to pull back alittle and I know I won't be missed at CMAS

You Hit My Main Nerve! You have no Idea how many drivers Assume that the GPS will get them somewhere & can't read a mapbook?! They end up calling me for directions! Professional drivers!?:mad2:

I should not have posted so soon after I got home after getting lost and missing the meeting....nothing good ever comes from getting upset....I know that but am not as good at living it as I would like....I am still a work in progress and am trying to be a better person.....Rob, I will consider helping with the event....don't cancel my membership to CMAS....but realistically I probably won't be able to drive up there for meetings 6 hours just to get there and back really cuts up a weekend....so send me what I need to know....like the hours and days you need help....How I get in....what helping involves.....Again, I was disappointed I missed the meeting...I am glad it was good....I am sorry I voiced my disappointment the way I did...CMAS is a good club with great people.

I hope I did not burn bridges with other CMAS members with my lapse of judgement. I appreciate the great advice people have shared with me and hope to continue to have great exchanges of ideas in the future.
