CNN article on new species

nice link. I'm sure that some animals become extinct before they're described or disovered. Our loss.

Not to go OT on you, Tad, but have you noticed the large number of butterflies around here this year? I'm seeing species that I haven't seen in years (metalmarks, hairstreaks etc.) and old standbys in large numbers... perhaps because the winter was so mild?

Yes! I have mentioned this too to my coworkers. I've seen a few species flying about that I can't remember ever having seen before, and they were out really early in the year.

And not just butterflies too, I've been finding all sorts of really cool bugs out and about. My girlfriend is about sick of me since everytime we go outside I find a cool bug to distract me. :spin1:

Quite possibly because of the mild winter, but also the weather conditions of last summer and fall play a role too. Definately a great year for entomophiles!
