You know what I am thinking... we can turn this into a great event that would draw positive attention to the hobby and the club.
Turn this into a clean the bay/shoreline/wetland, what have you, event.
Organize the event with the club members, families, friends, etc. Choose a stretch of coast line that is not manicured by the city that has both sandy style beach and rocky out crops.
We can have a great even that cleans a section of coast, and gives us an opportunity to gather some clean up crews. We can also swing it into an education session about how the garbage contributes to the pollution, red tides, and how the clean the animals we are collecting help not only the coast we collect them from but how they help to maintain out tanks.
There is a chance that a coast clean up, combined with a collection event might be twisted, but with the education session we should be able to divert that kind of attention. We can also keep the collection more quite and focus on the clean up...
Just a thought. I would be more members would show up for a clean up than a collection. It would be a great way to get our families together.

I'm IN!!! This can be our next months (This months) project! This is the best time of year to do it also - not to hot - not to cold.
I have a web site that I'm building (www.reefdiversity.com) and now I can add a new section dealing with environmental issues (Which I had planed) but now I can show how the local reef club is helping. Show how the whole family can be involved in reefing - great idea wardaddy.

lol thanks its been that way for a while and i like it i guess i need some new tank pics on there cause those are old ones but thanks ..
i am down for goin out on a cleanup/collection/education to meet everyone have some fun and do something good for the environment heck we could even get the media involved well maybe not if were collecting but who knows sounds like a great time let me know im on vacation from the 12th to like the 23rd so sounds like a good idea

mrferrit started this so I'll start with the either the 17th or 18th of March. This gives us a little time to get this organized - at least Day - time - place. Time - if cleaning up we need to start early like 9ish. Is this to early for anyone? We need to get started early so we can do our work and then PLAY.
So that's a start - where should we clean-up - to many places. We could get a place so that people with boats can come out and help us and also take us for rides

Oh man! I guess I wasn't planing to go Well we'll need to change our little plan - I'm game for the 18th but that is Sunday so I think a few people would have a problem with that. I'd really like to have a time when mrferrit can come with but we might have to make it the 24th. So Sunday the 18th or the following weekend on the 24th? We need a vote - anyone have a preference? When is spring break?

sunday the 18th sounds pretty good to me but lets see ho many other people can do it . if we go the 24th i probally wont be able to make it till about 4 pm so thats a lil late but hey i might have some beer left in the keg on the 18th i could bring unless my friends are really thirsty =)

Yea we need some action on this - are you with me!!! I what to get with everyone and have some FUN! Where is the best place to clean-up the coast, do some diving, boating, and do some critter hunting? You is in for Sunday the 18th?

Hey I am dive certified. I havent been diving since I was 12 though, but I figured if I was with a bunch of people in 15 feet of water I would be fine lol. I have to pay 40 bucks to get a new card but them I'm good.

sunday the 18th sounds great i should be sobered up enough to come out by then
not sure about diving that day if there is any where to go or anything to look at around here but i am up for some sand watching as long as i am under i dont care
so i guess we need to come up with a place to go
there wasent anything to clean up around the south side of the skyway but there was a bunch of creepy crawlers (critters)

This is more like it - sounding like the 18th is good for enough of us! O2zen - that would be great if you could check those areas out - it is beautiful out there.
