collecting???

Hi, Since I have my youngest in school now, I would love to go collecting on my own. Is there any place fairly safe - that dosent require a boat to collect in the cape area. There is a nice place on pine Island where the kids go for school, but they catch and release. Not sure if I can keep some of the stuff I catch.
Any place else close to cape coral or ft myers

Sanibel or Bunche Beach. Low tide after a storm is best.

I just moved down here about 5 months ago i went over the causeway the other day for work and was thinking the same thing about that area, what could you expect to find there? i also hear that lovers key is a good place?
