Color vision & camoflage in fish

I assume that our brightly colored reef fishes see in color. I have a green clown goby that has picked a perching location of preference on my green LPS (see pic below). He/she is almost always in or around that location. Do you think that this fish knows that he/she blends in so well with his/her chosen place?

if i remember right, those guys like to live in millipora naturally...and well i have seen a decent number of milli's with green polyps and red base that he would match perfectly!

Do you think my goby knows he DOESN"T blend in? :)

Remember that most fish don't live at the very surface of the water like they do in our aquariums. Ten meters down the colors are very different; yellow and red tend to turn very dark, etc.

Great Pic......
But actually to our eyes, just about everthing down there is different shades of grey....and most reds look grey like everything else I.E. blood at 90ft. looks green....unless of course you have your own strong light source, then everything looks like it does in our aquariums....
But that is not to say what these same colors are interpreted through the critters eyes.....?
