COMAS Leadership 2012. Voting Time.

Team RC
As always, at the end of the year, we decide who will be leading COMAS into the next year.

If you were at the last meeting, you will know that I will not be running as President of the club for next year and that I will cease my duties at the end of CRASE. I will arrange for the UCO venue to be opened for the November meeting and will at that time lead the vote on the next President and the Leadership Team.

I have enjoyed being President but it is time someone else took over the club and directed it in 2012.

The positions available are:

President
Vice President
Treasurer
Secretary

All other positions are appointed by the LT detailed above.

I strongly encourage anyone who is interested to ask question and take up office. COMAS is a great group of people with an established infra-structure of website, meeting venue and activities, so half the job is already done.

I also want to thank My LT, Stephanie as VP, Ed as Secretary and Educational, Denise as Membership, Ken as Webmaster and Lynn as Frag Director. You guys really rocked!

While I am speaking for the LT, I am sure we are all ready to help the new team with whatever they wish to do and the vision they have for COMAS.

Just to reiterate, November will be the last meeting I organize- so we have to have a new President in place by the end of that meeting.

Finally, I want to thank all of you for your support over the last 10 years.

Regards,

Paul.

Will be sad to see you go, but I know that you have been busy with things and it can be hard to keep up when you spread yourself too thin.

Thanks Paul,

Last couple years people listed here if they wanted to hold office,
or wanted to suggest someone to run:

Would you prefer that or show up at the meeting?

I nominate Stephanie as PRES, Ed as VP. or vice versa....

I think Steph could do a bang up job

I agree, I think Stephanie would be a great choice---- but living over 2hrs away makes it a tough proposition.

Who else would like to nominate themselves.

I have barely been able to fulfill my duties as VP this year. I appreciate the nomination, but I won't be able to take the presidency. As Paul said, it is just too much to manage being 2.5 hrs away.

I definitely want to encourage you to step up. If you have an idea of where you would like to see the club go, now is an excellent time to try that out. It is a good sized club - small enough that it's not overwhelming, but large enough to have a budget with dues and a decent turn out to events.
Maybe you want to see more member tanks? You can bring back a home rotation once a quarter....
Maybe you want to see more demonstrations or diy tips?
How about pure social meetings to have small group discussions about your tank issues?

It's up to you and the new LT. Think about what you want and the direction you'd like to see the club take - your leadership team is a team of people and there is a place for your enthusiasm and skill. All you have to do is love the hobby and want to help other people gain access to knowledge that relates to the hobby. You don't have to know the answers - that's why you bring in the experts.

If you have enjoyed the frag program, the demonstrations, or the talks this year, step up and help insure that others around you and after you get to benefit from COMAS as well.

/steps down from soap box :)

I don’t know about anyone else but I think that it may be beneficial for everyone to see what the duties as well as the club bylaws are so that they may know what they are expected of and how things are setup.

Also I understand that Paul will be stepping aside as President but will he still be coming around to the meetings and such? Also an advisory role may be in order if he would have the time and be willing to take it, not thinking anything major but information to help setup certain venues if needed etc.

I can say that if no one else is willing to step forward I will do what I can where needed. I do have some experience, while a senior in high school I was the chapter president for the FFA. Though I don’t know how much use the Roberts Rules of Order will be in this situation, LOL.

I would like to throw my hat into the ring for the treasurer position.

My two decades of accounting experience should make me more than qualified to handle the clubs finances, and I was secretary of the club way back when we used to meet at peoples houses.

I am honest, trustworthy, and have been bonded as a notary public. I have brought numerous new faces into the club, and have this clubs best interest in mind.

For anyone wanting to be on the Leadership team next year....

You may want to consider setting a booth up to take memberships for the upcoming year. If anyone is interested in doing this, please let me know and I can get you set up.

P.

Anyone interested in running for office should state which positions they would like to hold.

Thanks,

P.

I would be interested in the president position as I am a poor secretary if I have to keep a lot of records.

I would also like to nominate Tanya as VP, I think she would do a great job and would enjoy working with her.

what duties does Secretary fulfill? Would Ed be interested in running for Pres? I think he would make a good president

Thank you Lauren, but I don't think I could devote the time to the club that it needs. HDC is growing rapidly, and demands more and more from me on a daily basis.

I have been a part of the club LT for a few years now, and look forward to seeing others sharing their ideas/efforts to the membership.

As it stands, the following people have expressed an interest in running for COMAS Office.

John Gill: President

We still need at least one other to run for Secretary. If anyone else would like to run for office please post here. Failing that the above people will automatically assume office at the next meeting.
