Come Give Us Your Opinion!

It seems as though many of the people would like to see DIY moonlights, some sort of acrylic work, and everything about a calcium reactor.

Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to do all of the ideas next year. Educational (hands on) meetings are only slotted for 3 - 4 times in 2007. (Of course, that isn't bad when you think about the fact there are only 12 meetings in a year). So we need a "best of" list.

Of course not. That is just what I am anticipating. If there is overwhelming desire to do more than that, I'm sure we can talk to paul and tim about doing them. But to keep it fair to the rest of the sections, 4 is really the desired number.

Also, if there are projects that a number of people want to try, I don't see why we couldn't meet at someones house and work on them as a group. Take the maxijet mods for example; I don't think we should have another meeting where we work on them, but I think it would be fun to have everyone that wants to work on them meet at someones house. We could get some pizza and stuff. It would be fun.

That would be fun - except that I couldn't make it, jerk. :)

I have never been to a meeting yet. Most of the building things are more the type of meeting that I would like to see. The sump sounds like it would be fun to watch it being made.

Hi Cirea, please done remain a stranger,

Welcome to the COMAS forum. Tell us about your tanks.

Paul.

I don't get to come to meetings anymore:(, but i think a demonstration on making a 2 part cal/buffer additive would be very good. Most people are probably a bit leary about mixing chemicals, and making your own can save a ton of money. You could combo that meeting with a demo on ingredients, and how to blend a good coral/fish food also. The meeting i went to at Lazyreefer's house, he made a batch of food that drove everything in my tank crazy.
If anyone has plans for a DIY calcium reactor, that would save people tons of money, and greatly improve a lot of systems.
I personally think the best demos, are ones that help to upgrade systems for less money, to help those with smaller checkbooks still obtain the best system they can get on a budget. After all, as my wife would scream at you right now lol, this hobby can get a little pricey to say the least. Not that she would use those words, but it would be the topic of a several minute rant lol.

i will do the 2 part (actually 3 part) mix at a meeting where we discuss calcium reactors.

We will also do a bulk buy of reagents upfront so people can buy them if they want them.

As for DIY Ca reactors, its the CO2 bottle, regulator and solenoid as well as Ph monitor that costs....not really the reactor itself.

OK, well mostly this is a bump, but would someone want to sum up what people are talking about here and maybe make a poll? If everyone gets to vote for their top 2-3 things, we can see what is popular for the meetings and maybe organize small groups for the other stuff. There are so many great projects listed here, I'd hate to overlook something!

I think rather the officers in charge of organizing meetings will likely do some work first to decide how practical some of the options are, what will be involved, etc. Then perhaps a poll might happen.

But maybe not - this thread may have been the poll. But we'll see....
