Come with me on my Custom 77 Gallon setup

Smal update, ever since I had to pull all the pumps out of the sump to catch my six line wrasse, I can't get my skimmer tuned in. Still working on it.

Everything else is going well.
I am going to post a few pictures later of the remodel, since it is kind of related to my tank, as that is where the fishroom will be.

Here are a couple pictures of the start of the remodel.

They have torn up the entire driveway.

This is where the new garage will go. The fishroom will go in the corner by the window and the old garage door. The window will be gone. The two vents to the crawl space will be the direction of the both the drain lines and return line to the tank. If you look carefully in the front window you can see the tank.

Looking forward to following along with this, take lots of pics.

Is that a palm tree behind your house? You Suck...just kidding. :D

It is a palm tree, but it is like two houses away. I personally hate palm trees, I think they are ugly. In LA they are taking out palm trees and replacing them with Oaks, and other stuff because the palms don't recycle enough air to help with the smog. :D

Ahhhhhh...I got a coffee into me know. Not that I'm bitter about the winters up here. ;) I do feel a bit better knowing you get ice in the winter.

Wow! I must say this has been an adventure. As a newbie to the hobby I am reading as much as possible to learn what I can before jumping into things. I would like to say that you have an amazing setup and it is one that I will follow and view as a role model. I feel as though I have felt all the ups and downs in your journey with this tank, its almost as if i am reading an unfinished novel and want to find out what is going to happen in the end!

Thank you for sharing! Everything really looks great! Hope all goes well from here on out, and I will be following with you!

Jordie

Thanks for the kind words, Jordie

It has definately been an adventure. I think there are two different kinds of reef tank keepers. The first are people who want a tank to look at and experience, these people setup a tank and maintain. The second (like me) really like the tank, but also like to build new things and try new things, so our tanks keep changing, with new equipment, etc. I think building new stuff and watching it work on the tank is almost as cool as the tank itself.

BTW [welcome]

Yeah, the current garage floor is being raised to the same level as the rest of the house and converted to a master bedroom/bath with a deck in the back with french doors. Also in the back behind the kitchen will be a laundry room/mud room.

We are also getting whole house heat and AC, new roof, new driveway.

I am also getting a cold water source and drain in the fishroom. My contractor is into the reef tank, doesn't have one but thinks it's cool and has had some great ideas to help with the fishroom.

Well, not too much to update. I fragged 17 pieces from my Birdsnest, A. Scripps, Grape Idaho, Zoas plus a couple of Xenia for an upcoming Coral Frag Farmer's Market in Ontario, Ca. I am donating the pieces to IEMAS ,so they can sell them at the show and make some money for the club, we are just starting out.

The remodel is progressing. Oh and I got a new Toyota Tacoma!!!

Pics to follow.

Keith

That's cool about donating the coral frags to your club. We (WMAS) just had our Frag Fest meeting two weeks ago but it snowed so much that I didn't think it was safe to drive. That's great you got a new Tacoma; great truck!

Keith,
great thread! Just got through it. I suggest you just resin wipe the old garage, add two plies of BID and fill with sea water.
ginger says Hi.
Your tank is looking great.

Cheers,
Bob

Thanks MJ,

Great to hear from you Bob,
Found your original thread and the photos, your tank has really grown out. It's nearly full, time for a bigger one I guess. LOL

Interesting development last night. I was feeding the tank some Mysis and I saw the Male Mandarin eating some. :eek2: :D

Maybe he will start that on a regular basis. That would be very cool.

On a house note, they poured the footings yesterday. So framing should start soon!!!

Ok, ok stop laughing. I took me about ten minutes to stop laughing. :D

Just doing a little catching up . . . .

WOW, after enduring some bad news of my own it was nice to see this photo. I like it , I really do. It's so, a, white isn't it?

Now what I'd really like to see is the picture of you and your friends from back when. I'm guessing long hair, beards, and some very sweet bell bottoms. Wait that may be too far back . . .maybe some cool Saturday Night Fever dancin clothes?

I am excited about your remodel, what a blast that can be. Please keep us posted

BTW Keith, I do know where Yucaipa, California is and I've been trying to Google Earth your remodel but can't quite seem to zoom into a home with a remodel going on. :)

LOL!! It really is a white tank isn't it. The thing that gets me is the undergravel filter.

The Google Earth picture of our house is a couple of years old. That is the thing about google earth, the pictures are not the newest.

About the pictures of my friends and I "back in the day", if any exist, would show black leather jackets, torn black jeans, lots of band patches, safety pins and Mohawks. Used to look like a serious Punk back in the day. Still listen to the music and still go to shows. Just took my seven year old to his first show, The Aquabats!!! Good times, in the making.
