I'm setting up a new tank but wanna continue to use my lighting system of a MH, 4 T5 and moonlight LED's.

So can the controller dim them without my changing the ballasts to those so called dimmable ballasts? Or dimming will be fulfilled by simply plugging them into the sockets?

Besides, how could the controller control my chiller that automatically works according its own sensor just like air-conditioners do.

Big thanks

Hi

To dim anything the light with any make of controller the lamp must have dimmable capabilities, the standard being a 0-10V interface, most lamps do not have this as a standard, MH is non existant in the market.

Controlling your chiller with its own sensor is very simple

You set the chiller temp to 1 degree below your preferred set point and the GHL ProfiLux to your preffered set point, you then plug the chiller into the ProfiLux power bar and set a socket to temp 1 - chiller.

When the ProfiLux senses your set point is reached that you set on the profilux the controller will turn off the chiller. However you also have a fail safe with the chillers own thermostat, this is why you only set it 1 degree from the ProfiLux, same process for heating.

thanks for the very detailed AND FAST response!

so to my understanding, id like to make few points and raise some more questions:

1, MH is undimmable so i can use the controller as a timer with which to switch it on and off according to my set

2, T5 is dimmable but i gotta use an interface

3, the controller also offers double check for my cooling process---this is very cool

but now my questions are:

1, excuse for my poor tech knowledge, how do i connect the interface to my T5?

2, is the interface included in the Profilux II package or ex II

3, how do i get'em in Ottawa---yup, it sounds awkard cuz you are apparently from Ottawa. but it is my first time to reside there even though i live not far away--in New York City

Once gain, my big big thanks!

Yes you can also add in a high temp component so if the MH heat the tank up too much it switches them off for a period. We advise running MH using the expansion socket high am protection bar which plugs into the main plug bar. This does two things, it protects the main power bar from high in rush currents associated with MH ballasts and reduces the current draw on the main power bar.

2, T5 is dimmable but i gotta use an interface

T5 is only dimmable if the ballasts are dimmable i.e have a 0-10V input

3, the controller also offers double check for my cooling process---this is very cool

By utilising your thermostat on your chiller, yes you have double protection

but now my questions are:

As above you need dimmable Ballasts

2, is the interface included in the Profilux II package or ex II

The profilux Plus II EX comes as standard with 6 x 0-10v ports this is expandable further using PLM-4L expansion card, from there the uses and interface are dependant on what you are connecting to it, i.e tunze pumps or dimmable T5 ballasts, the interfaces are extra but also cheap

3, how do i get'em in Ottawa---yup, it sounds awkard cuz you are apparently from Ottawa. but it is my first time to reside there even though i live not far away--in New York City

Contact Fish tails on St Joseph Blvd Orleans(Ottawa)

May have missunderstood your place of living

If living in Ottawa contact fish tails

If living in NY contact me by email only at sales@aqua-digital.com to be dealer sourced.

nono, sorry im now livin in NYC and i know where to get GHL in my hometown

but im movin to Ottawa pretty soon and wanna set up a new tank there and of course, make my first date with GHL there in Ottawa:lmao:

and once again, excuse me for being so dum, hehe

i have two more questions now----wishfully it will the last two but sorry this is really a big investment for me

1, what is the exact difference between II and II ex package? i read some threads and the intro but still fail to figure'em out.

2. can i use the ph function to control a doser rather than a calcium reactor. i dont wanna keep a co2 bottle this time

1, what is the exact difference between II and II ex package? i read some threads and the intro but still fail to figure'em out.

EX comes with the following extra ports

1 x salinity port
1 x redox port
2 x extra 0-10v ports (total 6, but can be expanded further)
1 x extra level port (total 3)

The above does not compromise the 3 dual expansion ports of the profilux so expansion remains the same.

2. can i use the ph function to control a doser rather than a calcium reactor. i dont wanna keep a co2 bottle this time

YES.

thank you very much, aqd

i have an extra question, and excuse if it sounds dum

since it is known that alkanility interacts closely with ph, does GHL have any probe monitoring alkanility level?

nope as they do not exist, alk can only be digitally read through colour meters, and of course that means dip tests.

nope, we are actually B distributors but do not support the dosers.

GHL dosers are by far and beyond a more quality unit that will last you way past the one year warranty BM offer, GHL dosers have a 2 year warranty, you are not restricted to just 3-4-7 or 11 pumps, with GHL you can start with just one.

Furhermore GHL dosers off far more in the way of features.

one more question, hehe

can GHL control ATI dimmable sunpower that has a built-in controller by itself?
