compatibility question

In everything I've read and in my limited experience. It's a hit or miss on whether or not a clown will get hosted by an anemone. I'm sure others can chime in with better advice.

My pair haven't touched the bta at all (5 months)... so I presume it's a hit or miss.

Mine took about a week to find their BTA. They loved it so much it began to get very stressed and I returned it to the store as it was a little small for two clowns. I now have a 12-14 inch Haddoni thats been in the tank for the last 2 1/2 months and they have paid no attention to it at all.

Perculas are frequently hosted by BTAs. Of course they aren't natural symbiotes, so it's not a guarantee, but odds are pretty good for percs and BTAs. From what I've read, ocellaris are a bit more finicky and less apt to go to a BTA.

I think the primary problem when a clown won't be hosted by anemone has to do with it being an unnatural combo. For instance, ocellaris go to mags like magnets, even when they're tank-bred. I've seen that happen repeatedly. Likewise, percs make a bee-line for mags as well. Generally maroons will be in a BTA before the anemone has a chance to settle in. The list goes on.
