configure wavebox

The info is on our webpage www.tunze.com. Click on the Interzoo 2004 flyer in the bottom left corner and download the PDF. If you do a search here their is dozens of pages of info if not at least a hundred.

Splendid warrior- it would need to be a bit in from the corners, it always has to be aimed down the length of the tank. If a tank is wider than 24" you need to be basically 24" from a wall in where you place it, so in your case, 6" in from a corner.

The noise in the first Video seems to be coming from the Rotating device's safety hole and not the wavebox

DT's_Reef - my 150 gallon is 15 inch deep. Otherwise I would love to add a wavebox because I'm having problem with algae in that tank. I recently added another 6100 (now a total of 3 on multicontroller) to hopefully stir up the water more.

I had two Stream 6000 pumps going full blast in my 120, which did help eliminate a lot of the hair algae, and I believe my issue was stemming from dead spots behind the reef, in nooks and crannies. I would also guess that my rock is not optimally arranged for flow. Probably need water flow blowing across the back of the reef as well.

It appears the wavebox has taken care of the issue.

I would have to believe this is going to be at least as popular as the Stream pumps, and probably more so.

Why can't you have one in a 15" tank? My tank is 18" deep and it works fine and definitely seems like it's short enough to fit in a 15" tank easily, and from your other video, it looks like you have room for one.

Because I have less than 0.5 inch before water splash over the tank, when both Mag 12 pumps are on. The video was taken when all pumps are off - therefore it appears that I have 1 inch or so to the edge of the tank.

I can probably still use the wavebox, but have to adjust the height of the wave. However - adjust the height is to adjust the screw on the driver to stream pump - and that would mean reducing the efficiency of the pump??

I may try placing the wavebox and see. I guess I would take 1 of the Mag 12 offline, and use it to feed water to the refugium. Right now I have 2 return, one goes to skimmer and one goes to refugium.

I think you'd be fine if you wanted to do it. My tank is similar to yours - Joy made my tank also and it's pretty much the same style but with slightly different dimensions (mine is 48x36x18). I have the wavebox hanging off of the overflow right in the center with the pump on max, along with 2 Stream 6100s (each side of the overflow), and a Sen 900 with a rotating return in one of the corners. I definitely am not losing any water over the sides.

Frisco - Thank you for your suggestion. I was curious to see if wavebox might work better in the shallow tank full of sps. I think that I'm going to order a wavebox for the sps tank also. One wavebox and a return pump is moving water very well already.

DT's_Reef - Thank you. I was encouraged by eliminating dead spot and algae control. I've had problem with all algae in this tank for the last 2 years. Maybe wavebox is the answer.

Wavebox on BB tank

You're welcome. Regarding the hair algae issue, I had had a problem with it for about 2 years as well, despite top of the line equipment, aggressive skimming, phosphate below .024 ppm, no nitrate, very limited feeding/fish population, using Rowaphos, etc., etc.

I think the wavebox helped get out any excess crud tucked away within the rock structure, and float it out where the skimmer could get to it.

Now, I've been feeding much more rich food, and more of it; my SPS are growing the fastest yet which I'm sure also competes with the algae as I've been getting *very little* green film on my glass.

Now, if I can only make my A. Subulata color back up as shown in my avatar.

Good luck.
