Connect multiple aquabus cables to make longer cable.

That should work but I'd always be suspicious of that causing problems down the road if something started acting flaky. I'd get the proper length cable at some point.

Thanks -- This will be a temporary solution until I get a proper length cable.

Is there anything special with the neptune cable or can you use any USB cable?

I believe a standard USB cable will work as long as it doesn't have any type of powered repeater (on the really long ones), but an expert should chime in as I've only had my APEX for ~5 months.

I have several runs where I connected two to three 10ft and 15ft cables and I have been having issues (I have one display, three EB8s, one EB4, one PM2, and one PM1 hooked up and about to add another display, EB4, and PM2).

I get interrupts where the modules lose communication with the base station. Been working with Neptune and the thought is a bad cable that is shorting the aquabus.

It is a pain since there are times it is fine. I had issues several days last week and then it was fine for the last 3 or 4 days and now I see it happening again.

I notice it when the widget does not update. Typically going to the web page it is not seen since it just loads the page.

Then if you run this on the web interface and have anything under the ecount for the modules (not the base) it means the module is losing communication that many times. It should read zero, but since yesterday mine is up to around 930.

My issues is I need to find out which cable. So I may just buy some new custom runs (need to find some) and re run everything.

i had connection issues and thought it might be extension cables like the one you noted. Turned our to be the EB4s I was using. However, could not have proved that to neptune without trying to use a single cable first. So now I have a bunch of cables in a box.

:-( so Neptune thinks these sort of extension cables could cause issues? I'd buy Neptunes even if they were $3-$4 a foot, but $20 for what would appear to be the same thing I could order for $1.82... seems a bit much.

unless someone knows a specific reason they won't work.

Reread post #5. You've got a $500 controller that you will come to depend on to give you reliable information and perform functions when it needs to. Have you ever seen the difference with a HD TV between using a good HDMI cable and a cheap Walmart one?
