Considering 220G FOWLR tank

I like Fuzzy Sticks
I am looking into setting up a 220G FOWLR tank (30" deep) and I am concerned about not being able to reach the bottom of it since I am barely able to reach the bottom of my 24" 180G tank. Just curious if anyone else has been in this situation and how annoying it might be to have to use tongs to pickup something on the bottom. I would prefer the extra volume of water and height for the fish to swim but not if it's going to be too much of a PIA.

I maintain a few tanks 30"+. And yes it is annoying. But I would go for it with a fowlr. You really shouldn't need to get at the bottom very often. Vacuuming the sand is not a problem with a longer vacuum tube.

I would agree. If you needed to get to the bottom a lot to place coral or adjust things it would be a pia. But fowlr shouldn't be that bad. Just keep a step ladder around for the few times you might need it.

Chris ..go for it...mine is 27" high and even with my long arms its a PITA, but for a FOWLR, as mentioned your not in it as often..

I have a 220 perfecto 30" deep. I have long arms so its not too bad. I use a step ladder and some time find myself stretching. If you can barely reach a 24", then I would say you wont be able to reach the bottom of a 30". It would be safe to say you will need to reach the bottom at some point even if its a fowlr.
