Conspicuous angelfish

Well if that's the case maybe I should be interested :)

Question is are they hardy at that point? What size Qt should I use? I normally use a 20 gallon but could increase the size.

you most def should as you wont find smaller...
qt in as big a tank as possible...she should eat pretty quickly....
if you are not getting her, please let me, or Wayne, know...

Will do. I know this is going to sound crazy but there are two angels on my list that I've had my LFS looking for. One is a bandit (tiny) and the other is the conspicuous. I know that that the bandit is the cheaper of the two.

What are your experiences which one is hardier?

Nothing "tiny" is hardy and Bandits are no exception. I think everyone loses track of how much work actually goes into it because people like Ted seems to do it with such ease. A 4.5" Conspic is going to be more hardy than a tiny Bandit. Both angels I would imagine are difficult to get eating prepared foods the larger they get, hence the drop in price with Bandits the larger they get. Anything out of Australia hold their value from lack of exporting

Do you have a lot of experience with more difficult angelfish? Both angels can be quite demanding initially. Baby fish need to eat quite frequently and can become emaciated rapidly. A conspic is also considerably more expensive than a bandit angel. (400$ vs 3K$ in my area). Baby bandits usually are around the 1K$

Depends I don't have a lot of experience with the larger angels other than Regals. Experiences with what i would consider 'tiny' angels (less than an inch) are with goldens, goldflake, joculators and lemonpeels.

I guess there is not a lot documented about the eating habits of the conspicuous. Are they considered difficult eaters like a regal or golden?

I've heard mixed reviews on bandits. Meaning some eat great and others it's a work.

Conspics are not too difficult to get eating.
What is the update? You getting her?

Bandits usually go for 1k with the baby bandits going for 1.5k.

Ted

Waiting till the owner gets in this morning/afternoon. I don't know if it's still available or not; it's from one of his suppliers.

I'm leaning towards getting it the only question would it do alright in a 20 or 40 gallon breeder as a QT tank?

I agree with you on the pricing of the bandits.

So I know you and Wayne are interested in in it but not considering the $$ which fish would you go for first, the conspic or bandit?

Thanks for all the discussion.

Cool, let me know..

They are both great fish...money aside, I go for the Conspic...they are harder to find overall, esp at that size, they usually come in bigger...bandits are always avail...I can try and help get you a baby bandit this June, should not be an issue.. they can be tough to get eating...

thanks...
6 inches is way too big for me, but is about the size they normally show-up in...
def jump on the 4.5 if it is really available...

So after a weekend of decision making and talking to friends I have a little conspicuous on the way. It's schedule to arrive on Thursday. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time.

I've seen a couple of videos of it at the wholesalers. Full of spuk and it appears energy. Also it was chowing down on mysis in one of the videos:)

As for size it somewhere between 4.25 inches and 4.50 inches.

This is the smallest conspicuous angel that has ever been offered to my LFS/friend.

Guess the bandit is going to have to wait.

Can't wait. I've been hooked ever since seeing one in person at Old Town.

Just love the look and personality.
