Continuous water changing system?

So after tons of research I finally pull the trigger on a system. It was between the genesis system and the litermeter system. I chose the litemeter over the genesis system because one the tubing size of the litermeter system is smaller and easier to run. Price was cheaper and the litermeter is a product that has been around for a long time. Also I can control it with my apex and I have it configured with the tunze ATO. As for the genesis system my concerns were the 1/2 tubing the need for larger pumps and it wouldn't work with my apex. Don't get me wrong when dealing with genesis reef systems was awesome, they answered all of my questions and have a great product, but it just didn't fit my needs.

So far I've only had it installed for about 4 days, but I can already see a difference in the corals happiness.

I would think it would need to be much larger than that if relying on it to be the main source of water change. do you still change out a big one every once a month?

I would think 10ml so small it would build up bad over time much like not doing it at all, just slightly longer.

Sorry it's 10.65 liters a day. which is about 3 gallons a day. I'm going to change that to 5.67 liters a day or 1.5 gallons.

I do automatic water changes at a rate of about 25 gallons a week. I use a Litermeter 3 with a secondary pump module. One takes out water a little at a time and the other adds water from my salt water storage tank. While I am not familiar with the Genisis system, the litermeter allows you calibrate each pump for the enviornement. The hose length as well as height are variables that will effect the flow rate so calibration is one key element in insuring that you take out and add in the same volume of water or liquid.

You then determine the amount of liquid transfer per pump. After that, the litermeter will handle the water exchanges a little at a time over the course of 24 hours and continue to do so until you stop it. I have been using this system for nearly a year and my tank has never been happier. All I have to do is transfer RODI from my RODI tank to the salt water storage tank and add salt which I do on a weekly or b-weekely basis depending on my mood.

Its made maintaining my system much easier. Its probably one of the best additions I have ever made to my system.

As for why I chose the Litermeter... Besides the fact that I have never heard a bad thing about the product and only good things,

One other nice thing about the litermeter is that you can have a total of 4 pumps attached to the main unit which is nice if you also want to dose.[/QUOTE

I might look into this route when I move and have a drain near my tank. Right now I don't as its in my living room of a single story apartment
