converting 7400 to Stream

I was reading this post about converting 7400s to streams

http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=153112

I have 3 7240/2 pumps 1 or more of which I'd like to convert to streams if possible.

The numbers stamped on them are (all purchased at the same time)

512
122
422

From your earlier post I think I could convert the last 2?

If so where can I get the kit from - I looked on the Tunze parts list but can't see it.

7240/2 is a part number for the motor block and not a pump model. Your mps will be either 7200/2, 7300/2 or 7400/2. The 7400/2 will convert to a 6100 Stream and the 7200/2 will convert to a 6000. You will need Update6100 to convert the 2 pumps eligible for conversion. It is not listed, these were somewhat limited in supply and not an official offering or anything that will ever be listed. Your local dealer can probably arrange to get a couple they ran about $82 US.

7400/2 Conversion

Hi Roger,

I just talked to Jesse at Marine Depot and he wasn't aware that this conversion was possible. I bought a couple of 7400/2's from you back in your mail-order days that I'd like to convert to Streams. Is there a particular part number that Jesse would have to use when ordering this part?

And by the way my 2 4002's are still going strong after 5 years! That's what I call quality!

Thanks for your reply,

Luis

Hi Luis,

The older 7400/2 cannot be converted so easily. First they have to be from no earlier than April of 2002. The reason is that the drivers prior to this time were hand made and had to be hand calibrated to each individual pump. Newer units have a surface mount board that has a wider tolerance and adjustment is not necessary. If it was made from July 2000 to March 2003 it could be converted by changing the driver as well. If you want call me and I'll see what we can do. Since you bought it when AquaTek was doing mail order it has to be older than June of 2002. You could convert it without the driver with the understanding it may not perform perfectly and any damage to the driver would not be covered.
