experiences with convict tangs???

tell me your experiences good or bad, and tank mates and your tank size.....

considering one ( would have to buy a tank for the convict so iam just in the research/get other peoples experiences phase of consideration)

I asked this same question basically a month or so ago and the consensus was that most all come in thin and are very difficult to get eating prepared foods and getting them to fatten up is another problem that goes back to the prepared food thing

Never had a issue getting them to eat they all come in skinny and just eventually waste away never had long term success with them

I've had mine for three years or so. I don't remember issues with getting him to eat, so it sounds like I was very lucky. It went through 4 weeks cupramine and a couple of rounds of prazipro during QT. It's an extremely active fish and it's always grazing on algae (I have plenty). It's probably 3/4"-1" thick too!

It holds its own with the other tangs in my tank as well (achilles, powder blue, fowler's, hippo and desjardini).

I have a convict currently. Rather lost track of how long; certainly no more than 6 months. Came in from LA very thin. Not just concave belly, but some pinching behind the head. Ate well in QT right from the start, but couldn't seem to put on any weight and I figured internal parasites maybe. Got it though QT, including prazipro, and into my FOWLR. Wasn't getting any thinner; but not fatter either. Then, about 6 weeks ago I finally got it to take nori off the feeding clip, and THAT was what finally started to get back some weight. Now happy to say that it's no longer thin, you cannot see any of the bones and it eat like a cow. Really one of my favorite Tangs and an awesome consumer of GHA.
