Cool Fish on Diver's Den

So if the Clarion angel is captive-bred, why the same price (if not more). Isn't the expense of these fish the cost involved in catching them at the other end of the world?

You're in California... Do you realize how close you are to the other end of the world?

This eastern central Pacific species appears to have a limited distribution. It is primarily found around the Revillagigedo Islands (Mexico), including Clarion Island (Isla Clarión). Occasional vagrants are recorded from the southern tip of Baja California (Mexico), the southeastern Gulf of California (Mexico), and Clipperton Island (overseas possession of France). It is found at depths of 3-30 m.

^That came from the "red list"
There is actually more time involved with captive bred fish and it's really hard to put a dollar amount on that. I can't believe it's a adult and not a juvenile being from Su Wen Ping and for that price.

He turns into a really nice looking fish. So as long as a terminal male is not introduced...this particular fish will definitely continue to become a terminal phase male? No chance of reverting to female? Thanks

I think that is how it works, though not really experienced with Wrasses yet.

It looks like LADD has stopped putting max size on fish. I didn't see it on anything that I looked at today. Anyone else notice this? Is there a reason behind that?

Don't feminus have a better track record though? Not sure I'd buy a lennardi knowing no one has had long term success.

Yes they do but for 1/3 the price it's a risk most are willing to take. Wayne's are doing well. Went thru TTM and formalin in between transfers

Correct. There's just a handful of long term success stories with lennardi (greater than 1 year).

I watch two do awesome in a 5'x5'x3' local reef for nearly one year, until they suddenly didn't. No probable cause, and that's usually story with them.

You have to go to the Live Aquaria side to see max size. Pretty sure DD has never had max size.
