Cool Fish on Diver's Den

Cool Fish on Diver's Den

This may be the strangest - $249 for this!

What am I missing here? I'd rather have a $5 pajama cardinal.

I assume that fish will stay unsold for quite a while. Think of the fish you can buy for $250.....

Blotched Anthias..
I think they're cool, but would much rather have a nice Red Sea regal for the same price...
No thanks :)

I think Slief has a trio in his tank.. I may be mistaken.

That's because it's a juvi. If you ever see an adult blotched Anthias in person their colors are amazing. That said, a juvi blotched anthias shouldn't go for more than $150.

The stores here have them usually for about the same price. The issue with them is that they are anthias only by name. In behavior they are Serranidae which means that they eat whatever fits their large mouth.

That's what I thought initially but I've never seen a picture of one with intense coloring like that. Awesome fish. Wow.

A fish store in my area has a huge supermale for sale. I can't imagine what it would look like in a reef with better lighting and other wrasse in the tank. The wrasse came from Quality Marine, LA's order fulfillment vendor.

This is the one that I want...

Hey everyone,

Thinking of pulling the trigger on this Rose Band Long Tail Fairy Wrasse... Just want to make sure that it's the juvenile male phase and that it's color will be changing to something more "striking" when it gets older...

There is no juvenile male phase. Protogynous hermaphrodite phases go in this order: juvenile, female, initial phase male, male, terminal phase male. The above fish is jest at the very infancy of transitioning from female to initial phase male. Female caudal and anal fins are opaque, males have color. This one is just beginning to show color in it's finnage.

Sorry, meant "initial phase male" not "juvenile male", so it's colors will change then? Thank you! Purchasing shortly... :D

My LFS just got 2 of these in. I think they called them Barbara's Anthias, not 100% on that. $300 a piece

Question on diver's den shipping. If order placed on Thursday afternoon will it ships on Monday? Are the delivery date fairly predictable?

Also what is the salinity you typically get?

Yep will ship Monday for Tues delivery.. I have never had a package not make it when they said it was coming...

Never tested the salinity in fact I usually do a pretty rapid acclimation (15-20 min drip) and never had any issues

Thank you.

Still anyone tested salinity?

Yes, that's correct. Salinity from DD is usually 1.025.
BTW, you could get Saturday delivery for an extra $15, orders over $175 have free shipping (minus the up-charge for optional Saturday delivery).
