Cool Fish on Diver's Den

Please tell me what the second fish from the bottom is!? Need to do some research on this little fella

Did some research, the fish in question is actually an ornate cowfish. I've been looking for the name of this fish for so long and finally figured it out. Shaws cowfish are similar but the one pictures above is ornate cowfish.

DD is calling this McCosker's wrasse a "terminal" male, NO way possible this is a Terminal male.
It's pretty subjective when exactly a transitional male is a terminal male; it's all based purely on visual cues.

I'd love to add some of those, but skipped them so far due to the fact that females are hard to come by.
You're much better off just keeping single males of various species.

i was buying from divers den for a few years. my moorish idol came from them 4 months ago in great health and is doing great. i have lately been driving an hour to that fish place in lancaster pa. its more fun to see the fish in person when you are buying it.

I just drove there earlier this month and their fish selection wasn't as great as when I went last year :( Too bad since it is a 2 hr drive for me, gonna check out the Hidden Reef next after my new flasher wrasse is out of the QT (got ich spots after a few days :uhoh2:).

Dang, jraker just beat me to it...

Hunter, how many of these are going to buy? Wait, you probably have two of each already....

wow, we are so spoiled in SoCal because Rhomboid PAIR can be purchased for under $300, and flame wrasse PAIR is $169.

Well.. I mean.. Any LFS is going to be a lot cheaper than any fish on DD.. The conditioning for two weeks and the two week guarantee is expensive to say the least.

However, that's a lot cheaper than we get it here in Colorado! Flame wrasse pair runs 200-250$

Perhaps being closer to LAX on the Pacific Ocean makes a big difference.

Easier/less cost to fly a plane to Cali then Colorado in regards to the flames. There is also a abundance of wholesalers in Cali so that will drive prices down for LFS and those of us that can go to wholesalers

Hunter, which ones do you have of those?
Well, currently none. But I've had jordani and rhomboidalis in the past. Bathyphilus I've never kept but I do still have a single nahackyi. And rubrimarginatus I love but not one I'll put alongside lineatus (which I've always had).

Anymore I tend to gravitate towards the real rare stuff, for better or worse.
