Good luck!!! Post pictures!

The worst part of getting a new fish and when you don't QT is not seeing the fish for a while. I would think this guy will be out tomorrow. Was very healthy took the acclimation fine and also the Formalin dip. Then when he was in the tank was swimming slowly even when the McCosker's wrasse and the Cherub Angel were harassing him. So he wasn't scared at all, many fish would be acting scared to death, not this guy!

I can't wait to see him in full lights, I only had light through the windows with curtains down so just a glow sort of light in the room. He sure is a beautiful fish. :fish1::celeb3:

Ok so here's the update. The Yellow Candy Hog Fish aka YCHF arrived in good shape beautiful fish and looked very healthy. Did well with acclimation and Formalin dip then released into my tank.

Slight aggression from the Cherub Angel and McCosker's wrasse, finally found a place in the rocks to spend the night.

This morning when light came on the YCHF came out as soon as the lights came on and was checking around the tank until the CA came to say "hello" :hammer: Not really bad aggression but more like checking him out in a bold kind of way. Then the MW came up and was doing some serious flashing and swimming circles around the YCHF with an occasional body bump, the CA stayed his distance and let the MW do his "hellos" first. :hammer:

So it was a back and forth slight aggression but mostly flashing and swimming circles around him by both fish but mostly by the MW. The YCHF stood his ground very well and more or less didn't fight back at all, so it appears so far that he's not an aggressive fish by any means.

I feed both pellets and frozen Mysis in the mornings but first the pellets and then about half an hour or so later the frozen Mysis. The YCHF didn't show up for either feedings but did make a fast appearance shortly after but was flashed into hiding once again.

All in all the aggression isn't really that bad and I think it will subside rather quickly. So we'll see how it goes.

The hog will definitely hold his own. And he will live up to his name in the eating department. Not a lot is talked about these fish. I really like them!

He's doing a good job of avoiding both the Cherub Angel and The McCosker's wrasse. I saw just his head and eyes hiding in some rocks where the CA was backing into the spot flashing his tail in his face. Best part was the Hog fish was in the Cherub's sleeping place :D

Can't wait to see him out and about so I can get a few pictures. Will see what feeding time brings this afternoon.

I really like hogfish but they seem unpopular with a lot a lot of people due to their habit of eating crustaceans :D
My love of cleaner shrimp is why I haven't purchased one. :hmm5:

Dkuhlmann - yours is prettier!

Yes I do agree. I've not seen mine today it's hiding in the rocks. I do know where it is however by the actions of my Cherub angel and McCosker's wrasse. I really can't wait for him to come out and stand his ground with these idiots :D I sure hope he's been eating when I feed the tank, not sure because I've not seen him since yesterday. Hopefully he'll come out tomorrow.

Well I spoke too soon, right after I hit send he was out, being chased again by both the McCosker's wrasse and Cherub angel. :hammer:
