Copepods

Hi guys 80 gallon tank is up and looking good, just 5 fish inhabitants and 5 snails. I was just wondering if it's worth adding live cope pods to the tank to build up their numbers? I don't have a sump it's like a rear sump on the tank so built in not separate. Would it beneficial to the tank or detrimental if I added one or 2 bags of live pods?

It certainly would not be detrimental. Whether it would be "worth it" or not depends - how "live" was the live rock you used. If it was good quality, you already have pods, and since you don't really have a pod consumer among your fish, the pod population will grow naturally on it's own, in relation to food availability.

If your live rock came from a relatively sterile source, or you want to add some diversity, then go ahead and add some live 'pod mix.

In an established system without predators pod population doesnt need to be supplemented...
In a new system or when predators are present supplementing may be required.

How do I know there are enough to support the fish? I'm looking at getting a couple of wrasse and a longnose Hawk that apparently like to eat pods.

for the most part these fish should eat whatever you're feeding the tank as well as hunting on their on.

the only fish i really worry about explicitly having enough pods for are dragonets (Mandarins and Scooters). they're really the only obligate feeders (not counting Syngnathids) that are commonly kept in this hobby, that absolutely require large pod populations for grazing.

i've had a few different types of wrasse over the years, and all have happily eaten frozen.
