as everyone has said they aren't a very hard species once captured and are very susceptible to parasites such as ich. I've had luck with purchasing the smaller ones (search for visible spots of ich) and placing them into a quarantine tank first (they should be the only fish in there) that has been set up and cycled and leaving them alone with the exception of feeding. When feeding try live brine first supplemented with vita chem or other chemical supplement and a little bit of frozen mysis for nutrients. Much of the problem with these fish is that they are timid and won't fight other species for food or space.
