copper in QT tank

Today's thread about a flame angel with Ich made me think of a question I wanted to ask.


I'm in the midst of treating for Ich in a 29gal QT. I was hoping to re-purpose the larger QT tank after treatment for an office tank. (I have a spare 15 gallon for future QT but got the 29 due to the number of fish I had to treat)

Since I used cupramine do I reaaallllyyyy need to make the 29 gal QT only? (I like inverts FWIW)

Is there no way to confidently clean the the copper out?

You can use cuprasorb or carbon along with poly filter to rid of copper all the way. Once poly filter does not register copper any more break down the tank and clean it with bleach/water or vinegar/water mixture and let it air dry for 2 of days.

All you really need to do to re-purpose the tank is to rinse it out well. Neither the glass or the silicone will absorb any copper.

Salt mix has trace amounts of copper in it. There is no reason to be concerned just as billdogg stated. A good rinse would be fine. I'd probably use some vinegar in the water just to get it squeaky clean.
