Copper question with rocks

I got a fish yesterday and like most good LFS, they dose copper in their display tanks.

I have been saving my water from water changes and putting them in a bin with extra rocks to get them ready to put into tanks.

I was forgetful and put a little of the water from the copper tank into the bin with a couple rocks that were meant to go into my display tank.

My question is, are these rocks no good anymore to add to the display or is there a way to remove the copper from the rocks?

thanks.

How much of the water a few drops ...few quarts ...and how do you know they use copper ....if its copper safe its clear....if the water was yellow that's most likley nitrofurazone

I always ask if they dose copper in their tanks. I do not buy from an LFS without it. The first time I got a fish, they didn't dose or didn't dose enough and they had dead fish and ich everywhere the day and weeks after I got my fish.

Well, they give me a bag of water with the fish and I filled half the bag up with my tank water and emptied it back down to half to add another half of my tank water to the fish. So, the removed part was half my tank water/half LFS copper water.

There was no tint. It looked fine.

Matt- I didnt know coppersafe was ok. Even for inverts??

Necrio- I think what Matt wants to know is how much of the total volume is now copper. You mentioned a quarter bag of copper water. How big is the bin? There is a difference if its a couple gallons or a 35G Brute.

I think Poly-Filters remove copper. Look them up.

Well, it was probably 1-2 cups of water into a 15 gallon tubberware thing. only has 1 gal + pf water though.

Didn't say it was safe said it was clear and without asking you would not know its presence imo

This. If you think you have a contamination, use a poly-filter. It will turn blue if it's pulling copper based medications out.
Chances are you had such a trace amount that nothing will happen, but it's worth a few bucks on the poly-filter just to make sure.

1-2 cups of water with therapeutic levels of copper added to a 15 gallon tupperware aren't going to be real problem. For insurance, that poly filter recommendation is good. Also SeaChem makes a copper specific resin if that makes your more comfortable.

I think everyone should run a poly pad on occasion. That's how I found Aluminum in my system.
