If I were to purchase a Copperband Butterflyfish and kept it live and healthy. Do you think if I didn't have a big enough tank for him in like a year I would have trouble finding someone in this area that would want to take him/her in?
I usually don't plan on getting anything I can't keep for life, but I'm starting to get learn about how often people trade things in the hobby.
Please do not yell at me for asking this question, better I asked then not.

I don't think you'd have a hard time finding a home locally for him/her Gord.

Actually it's a good question.

i dont see anything wrong with getting a fish you like and then trading it when it outgrows your tank... some people just dont get the fact that they will have to sell fish once they get to big....

good luck trying to give it up. my CBB is probably my favorite fish and i wouldnt trade him for the world. it is going to be very hard to part with. btw...they do not get very large and are generally a very sedentary fish. just make sure you pick one up locally that you see eat with your own eyes. these fish are notorious for not adapting well.

8" is a bit large in a tank that is only 30" tank. I am a little worried one might try to eat the polyps off my Gorgonian.

i dont think 8" is common size for the aquarium. ive had mine for over a year and he is pretty much the same size as when i got him(3 1/2"). he has plenty of room, eats like a pig, but doesnt grow fast. ive seen HUGE ones at that fish place and even they werent anywhere near 8". i think if you get a juvenile you will have plenty of time before you have to worry about him out growing you tank.

here is a picture of my CBB almost 8 months ago. he looks exactly the same right now. i havent seen a lot of CBB gotten as juveniles get a lot larger than this. the large ones are usually wild caught as adults.

you wont regret it. i actually got mine from just fish so i guess there not 100% evil:D even though i paid over 2X retail:mad:

this is definitely a fish you wan to pay a premium for at a LFS so you have the opportunity to see it eat. i went to JF 2 or 3 times before i seen my CBB eat then i bought it on the spot.

MMM Nice colors too LD and he looks super healthy too. Does he get along pretty well with your khole too?

they are best friends. right now there is a juvi picasso trigger, lunar wrasse, and pygmy angel as well. the wrasse and trigger will be going into the 252 soon but the have all gotten along well for over a year. its the strangest group of fish but i have never seen any bullying, if anything the CBB runs the show.

OMG! I was going to show you guys pics today, I got a CBB, but he is sick already! I don't know what's going on, but I have a feeling my convict gobbies won't let him settle in. :-( They just got away from my French angle who bullied them I guess they are taking a stand this time. I don't know if the French would harass my CBB in the other tank. I have the worse luck. How fun is it to wake up on your birthday to cram for an exam and find your birthday present you bought yourself fighting for it’s life.

I return home from more completely blowing my exam and the fish has so little life in it, that when I lifted him out of the tank I couldn't even see him move. :-( I need some serious help. My hands are in the air and I don't want to touch anything till I know what the he!! I am doing. :-(

Any description of the fish as the photo is difficult to determine the problem. Spots are black? is there a problem with the fins
