Copperband twitching when eating

I got a copperband about 2 weeks ago. It took him a while to start eating but I have gotten him to eat live blackworms.

However I have noticed that after he eats a couple of them especially larger ones he starts twitching/shaking his head and will eventually spit them out.

Is this normal or do you think he has flukes or some other type of issue

Do a google search. I found many threads on this. I think it's normal.

i've seen mine do this during feeding as well on occasion. seems to my eyes to be a response to my yellow tang getting too close when he's munching, but that's just a guess.

mine went through TTM with two full round of prazi, so i'm fairly confident he's not suffering from internal parasites.

Totally normal. Mine does it when he's hungry and when I feed.

I believe they are trying to tear the food up into smaller pieces. I have noticed several Butterfly species do this when they eat. My Aurgia does it.

That's for the replies. That's good news I will keep a close eye on him over the next couple of weeks but hold off on the prazipro for now

As long as you've dosed a couple rounds of prazi, it's nothing to worry about. My Copperband does this and he's had a couple rounds of prazi and gone through TTM. I've had him for a couple of years now, so I don't worry about the twitching. Like I said above, they will do it when they're hungry too. Not just during feeding. Mine twitches every time right before I feed. He gets all excited knowing he will have food soon.

How much do you feed your CBBs? I find that after a couple of black worms he seems full while my clowns wI'll eat as much food as put in front of them

I do 2 - 4 feedings a day of pe Myses, and once every week or two treat with live white worms.

I try to make sure he gets at least 8 - 10 shrimp per feeding.

Usually when I feed I am feeding him, and everyone else just comes along for the ride.

I found out I wasn't feeding him enough originally, and he was getting skinny. So I pay much closer attention to make sure he's eating now.

That's 10 - 15 grams of pe Myses for my CBB, yellow tang, small clown pair, 4 lyretail anthias, and lawnmower blenny per day. I started weighing it to better track it. I rinse it well before feeding, but after weighing.

I feed my copperband twice a day. He eats live black worms for his main diet. He will also eat nori soaked in selcon. Once in a while when available I also feed him live clams.
